Out Of Area Trainees

Out-of-Area Trainees may complete their observations, personal workouts and practical teaching hours at a studio in their area, providing it is staffed with certified teachers. The PCA will contact the studio to set up an Affiliate Relationship. The affiliation is created expressly for the support of our trainees, with the major emphasis placed on creating as much continuity as possible in the trainees' experience.

We will review our training program and its basic requirements (as they pertain to our trainees) and ascertain a clearer understanding or background and credentials of their staff. The "Affiliate" studio does not need to have trainers who have trained specifically in the Core Connections Pilates paradigm; they do, however, need to be comprehensively trained in the classical work. We encourage, but do not require, the studio to adopt similar, very basic policies regarding Apprentice and Intern fees, etc.

In those situations where the establishment of an appropriate Affiliate Studio relationship is not available, out-of-area students may set up an in-home teaching and workout program, augmented by video taped sessions (trainees will prepare and submit for review 4 hours of teaching video and 2 hours of personal workout video per program quarter), quarterly consultation and review with Director and/or Program Advisors, along with personal intensives, when appropriate, at the PCA. It is very strongly recommended that out-of-area trainees schedule PCA studio time around their Weekend Intensives, arriving a couple of days before the first Weekend and leaving a few days after.

Trainees participating in an in-home teaching and workout program must have available for their use a Reformer and a Wall System (a Total Workout System or Cadillac Convertible similar to the units at the Center is fine), ideally a Chair and Barrel, as well. They many not charge session fees while an Apprentice,upon advancing to Internship status, clients will be charged a fee identical to the stipend that Interns will receive for teaching clients at the PCA; this fee will be kept by the Trainee.
